Tally Printer Offline

When your Tally printer goes offline, it stops responding to print commands, doesn’t show any activity on the display, or shows a “Printer Offline” error message. You will also notice the WiFi lights at the front of the printer blinking or turned off. It won’t show a solid green light. Instead, it will show other lights or no light at all.

Basic Troubleshooting Methods (For Beginners)

These are some primary methods to follow if your printer is offline.

Fix 1: Verify the Connection

This is the basic method where you need to check that your printer is connected to the power supply and turned on. Check if the WiFi light on the printer is flashing. If the lights are solid blue or green, the printer is connected to WiFi. But if the lights are just blinking or off, it is offline.

Fix 2: Restart Your Tally Printer

A simple restart can fix the printer offline error. These are the basic steps to restart this printer.

  1. Turn off the Tally printer by pressing the round power button at the front of the printer.
  2. Also, disconnect the power cable from the printer and the power outlet on the wall.
  3. Wait for at least 60 seconds and connect the power cable to the printer and the power outlet on the wall.
  4. Finally, press the power button on the Tally printer. It will flash a green light showing that the printer is online once again.

Advanced Troubleshooting Steps

If a restart doesn’t get your Tally printer back online, you can follow some advanced-level methods to fix the offline error.

Fix 1: Set the Printer as the Default Printer

When your printer is not set as the default printer, it will show an offline error. Therefore, you must check whether your printer is set as the default or not. If not, set it as the one.

  1. Click the Start button on your computer’s taskbar at the bottom and search for the Settings option.
  2. Select and open the Settings option, and select the Devices option.
  3. Under the Devices option, select Printers & Scanners.
  4. After that, check your Tally printer in the list of available devices.
  5. If your printer has a green check mark, it is set as the default printer. If not, click the Manage button with your printer.
  6. Select the Set as default option, and you will notice a green check mark on your printer’s name.

This method is very effective and will get your printer back online. However, if this method doesn’t work, try out the next method.

Fix 2: Disable the “Use Printer Offline” Option

If your computer has this option enabled, your printer will likely go offline as it is set in the computer. To get it back online, you will need to set it up online.

  1. Start by clicking the Start button on your computer’s taskbar and searching for the Settings option.
  2. Select and open the Settings option, and click the Devices option.
  3. Now, select the Printers & Scanners, and select your Tally printer from the list of printers.
  4. Right-click on your printer’s name and select the “See what’s printing” option from the drop-down menu.
  5. Next, you will see a new window. Select the Printer option at the top of the window.
  6. Then, check if the “Use Printer offline” option is selected.
  7. If it is selected, deselect it to get your printer online.

Finally, your printer will get back online.
