Tally Printer Paper Jam

While using the Tally printer, it is common to encounter a paper jam. It is also referred to as misfeeding. Clearing the paper jam can be challenging as there is a risk of further damage. The below guide will help troubleshoot and fix the stuck paper in one or more printer locations.

Causes

The paper jam issue occurs due to the below-listed reasons.

  • Wrong paper placement
  • Overloading of the paper tray
  • Damaged printer components
  • Printer software issue

Solutions:

Solution 1: Locate the Jammed Paper in the Loading Tray and Remove It

  • Check the loading tray and take out any loose paper from the area.
  • Press the printer's Resume button and carefully pull out the stuck paper.
  • Ensure to remove one sheet at a time and make sure to start it from the middle.
  • Verify that there is no piece of paper left inside the Tally printer.

Solution 2: Clear the Jam by Removing the Rear Access Panel of the Printer

  • Search for the access tab, the Knob on the printer's back, or the panel.
  • If the printer has Knob, pull it and move it to the Unlock position.
  • Remove the panel and gently take out the jammed paper.
  • Locate each small bit of paper inside the printer and remove it.
  • Replace the printer rear panel and secure it to the lock position.

Solution 3: Clear the Stuck Paper by Removing 2-Sided Printing Accessory

  • Press the RELEASE buttons on both sides of the model together and remove them.
  • Pull the panel out and gently remove the stuck paper inside the printer.
  • Make sure to clear each bit of paper torn inside. Now, push the module and place it into its position.
  • Push the button present at the top of the module to open the door.
  • Take out the panel, clear the jammed paper and close the rear door of the module.

Solution 4: Remove the Stuck Paper from Under the Front Cover

If all the previous solutions failed to remove the jammed paper, you could try this one. Pull the stuck paper from under the printer's front cover gently and slowly. Make sure that you keep this solution as the last option, as this may damage the printer.

Solution 5: Check the Printer Cartridge Is Moving freely.

  • Unplug the printer power cord and disconnect it from the power source.
  • Check if it moves entirely and freely to the printer's right side.
  • Do not put any force to move the printer when it gets stuck, as it may damage the printer.
  • Gently take out all the ink cartridges from the tally printer.
  • Without taking out the printer drawer, remove any paper placed in the loading tray.
  • Take out the rear access door and 2-sided printing accessory module.
  • Rotate the rollers using your fingers and complete the three full rotations.
  • Replace the module or the rear access door. Also, change the ink cartridge.
  • Plug in and switch on the Tally printer to check if the issue is fixed.

Solution 6: Reload the Printer and Check the Printer

  • Place some suitable paper into the loading tray and keep it in its place.
  • Print the test document and perform a self-test.
