Tally Printer Paper Jam

A paper jam indicates that a piece of paper is stuck in the paper tray. You will face this issue if you haven’t installed the papers correctly or if they are the wrong size.

Your printer will also display a “paper jam” error message on its screen. Even if your printer has completely stopped printing, it shows that something is stuck.

You’re not alone; many people face this problem. You can fix the paper jam error quite easily with these solutions.

Step 1: Turn Off Your Tally Printer

You should turn off your printer before checking it for a paper jam to avoid electrical issues.

  1. There is a round power button on your Tally printer flashing a green light.
  2. Press that button to turn it off. You’re done when the green light stops flashing.
  3. Your printer is connected to the switchboard on the wall through a cable (power cable); remove it from the switchboard to turn off your printer completely.

Step 2: Pull Out the Paper Tray

After turning off the printer, you can release your paper tray to check for any leftover papers inside it.

  1. The paper tray is generally located at the bottom front of your Tally printer. There is a button on the tray; press it and release the tray.
  2. Gently release it until you see the loaded papers, and check if there is any object or a piece of paper stuck inside.

Step 3: Check for Paper Jam

  1. You can use a flashlight to check for any objects. Remove any stuck papers with your hands or tweezers (a tool used to pick up small objects). But beware that you don’t push it too hard, as it can damage the other papers inside the tray.
  2. If you find that the papers are bent or wrinkled, remove them and load new papers.
  3. To load the new papers, take a new stack of compatible papers and adjust it in the paper tray.

Step 4: Close the Paper Tray

Once the paper jam is clear, you need to close the paper tray. To close it, gently push back the tray into its place. After that, you can take a test print.

FAQs

What’s Causing a Paper Jam in My Tally Printer?

If you haven’t loaded the papers correctly in your paper tray, or if they are the wrong size, paper jams will arise. Plus, if your printer rollers are dirty or the printer drivers and software are not up to date, it can also contribute to this issue. Moreover, if any piece of paper or an object is stuck in the tray, your printer will likely get a paper jam.

If your printer has a paper jam error, you should power off the printer and then open the paper tray. Once you open the paper tray, check for any stuck papers or packaging materials, and remove them if you find any obstructed material. Then, close the tray and try to print again.

If your printer is showing a paper jam even when there is nothing stuck, it could be due to the accumulated dust and dirt that has stopped the feed rollers from working properly. Moreover, it can occur when the paper type or size is incorrect.
