Konica Minolta Printer Not Working After a Windows Update: Find What Changed and Fix It

Your computer restarted for an update, and now the Konica Minolta down the hall won't cooperate. Maybe your print job leaves the queue and never comes out. Maybe the stapling options disappeared, Word freezes when you click Print, or the copier says it can't reach the folder you scan to every day.

It's frustrating, but it rarely means anything is wrong with the machine. A Windows update changes your computer, not the bizhub. It can swap out the printer driver, tighten the security rules that shared printers and scan folders depend on, and now and then it ships with a printing bug of its own. Each of those leaves clues, and once you know which one you're dealing with, the fix is usually quick.

This guide covers Konica Minolta bizhub office machines on Windows 11, with notes for Windows 10 where the menus differ. A few fixes need the bizhub's administrator password or admin rights on your PC. Those are marked, so you'll know when to loop in IT or your dealer.

Why Windows Updates Trip Up Konica Minolta Printers

Microsoft releases security updates on the second Tuesday of every month and a bigger feature update for Windows 11 once a year. Most of them never touch printing. When one does, the cause is almost always on this list.

• Windows put its own driver in charge. Windows Update delivers drivers along with everything else, and Windows 11 also has a built-in printer driver called the Microsoft IPP Class Driver. It can print basic pages to many newer bizhubs, but it doesn't carry the Konica Minolta options your office set up, like finishing, Secure Print, or department codes.
• Your jobs are missing their login details. Plenty of offices require a user login or department code before the bizhub will print. That information travels with each job from the Konica Minolta driver. Konica Minolta's manuals say the machine automatically discards jobs that arrive without it, which is why a job can vanish from your queue without a single page coming out.
• The driver doesn't agree with the new Windows version. After the Windows 11 24H2 upgrade, copier technicians reported Office programs freezing or crashing at the print button on PCs with older Konica Minolta drivers. Newer driver versions fixed it.
• Shared printer security got stricter. Starting in 2021, Microsoft released a series of security updates that changed how PCs connect to printers shared from a print server or another computer. Connections that had worked for years began failing with error codes, and installing a driver from a print server now takes admin rights by default.
• Windows 11 24H2 changed the rules for scan to folder. On Pro, Enterprise, and Education editions, a PC that shares a folder now requires SMB signing. Version 24H2 also removed NTLMv1, an older sign-in method that many bizhubs are still set to use. The folder your team has scanned to for years can suddenly refuse the copier.
• The update has a bug. Microsoft itself says drivers might not work as expected after a Windows update. Sometimes the real fix is a follow-up patch.

You don't need to know which one hit you before you start. The table above points you to the right fix.

Before You Change Anything: Two Minutes of Detective Work

These quick checks confirm the update is really to blame, and they give you the details you'll need later.

1. Check what installed, and when. Go to Settings > Windows Update > Update history and look at the most recent quality update. If its date lines up with the day printing stopped, jot down its KB number. On Windows 10, go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > View update history. 2. Check your Windows version. Open Settings > System > About and look under Windows specifications. If it now shows version 24H2 or later, keep that in mind for Fix 8 if scanning is also giving you trouble.
3. See which driver the printer is using. In Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners, select your Konica Minolta, click Printer properties, and open the Advanced tab. A driver name that starts with KONICA MINOLTA is the manufacturer's driver. Microsoft IPP Class Driver or another generic name means Windows swapped it.
4. Compare with a PC that didn't update. If a coworker's computer still prints to the same bizhub, the machine and the network are fine, and everything you need to fix is on your PC.

How to Fix a Konica Minolta Printer After a Windows Update

Start with the fix the table sent you to. If you're not sure, go in order, and print a test page after each one so you know when you can stop.

Fix 1: Switch the Printer Back to the Konica Minolta Driver

If the Advanced tab showed a Microsoft or generic driver, try switching back before you reinstall anything. It often takes less than a minute.

1. Open Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners, select your Konica Minolta, and click Printer properties.
2. On the Advanced tab, open the Driver list.
3. If you see a Konica Minolta driver for your model, or the Konica Minolta Universal driver, select it and click Apply. Windows may ask for admin rights here.
4. Go to the General tab and click Print Test Page.

No Konica Minolta driver in the list? It isn't installed on this PC anymore (or never was), so skip ahead to Fix 4.

One exception: some IT teams now set PCs up with Microsoft's driver on purpose and add Konica Minolta's Print Support App to bring the features back. If that's how your office works, leave the driver alone and read the 2026 section below.

Fix 2: Remove the Duplicate Printer and Set Your Default Again

After an update, you might find the same bizhub listed twice. One is the printer you've always used. The other was added by Windows, or it has "(Copy 1)" tacked on the end. Your documents go to whichever one is set as the default.

1. In Printers & scanners, open Printer properties for each Konica Minolta entry and check its Advanced tab.
2. Keep the entry that uses the Konica Minolta driver. Select the others and click Remove.
3. Under Printer preferences on the same page, turn off Let Windows manage my default printer. While it's on, Windows makes the last printer you used your default, which is how documents can end up in Microsoft Print to PDF.
4. Select your Konica Minolta and click Set as default.

Windows 10: open Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners, clear Let Windows manage my default printer, select the printer, click Manage, and then click Set as default.

If Windows keeps adding printers on its own, you can switch that off. Go to Settings > Network & internet > Advanced network settings > Advanced sharing settings, and under Private networks, clear Set up network connected devices automatically.

Fix 3: Clear Out Print Jobs the Update Left Stuck

Jobs sent before the update, or through a driver that has since changed, can jam the queue so nothing behind them moves. Clearing the spooler folder removes them all at once.

1. Press Windows key + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
2. Right-click Print Spooler and choose Stop.
3. Press Windows key + R again, type %WINDIR%\System32\spool\PRINTERS, and press Enter. If Windows asks for permission to open the folder, click Continue.
4. Delete everything inside the folder, but leave the folder itself. This cancels every waiting print job on this PC, for every printer, and nothing else.
5. Back in Services, right-click Print Spooler and choose Start. Then double-click it and confirm that Startup type is set to Automatic.
6. Send your document again.

Fix 4: Do a Clean Reinstall of the Konica Minolta Driver

When the driver is missing, damaged, or just too old for your version of Windows, a clean reinstall is the dependable fix. Download the new driver first, so you're never left without a way to print.

Step 1: Download the right driver

• Find the model name on the front of the machine, such as bizhub C300i.
• In the US, go to the Support & Downloads page on Konica Minolta Business Solutions' website, choose Drivers and SDS, and search for your model. Outside the US, use your regional Konica Minolta website.
• Choose the Windows 11 version. Konica Minolta offers its Universal Print Driver in PCL and PostScript (PS) versions, plus a V4 version for some models. Stick with the type you were using before. The old driver name usually ends in PCL or PS.
• If your PC has an ARM processor, such as a Snapdragon chip, download the ARM64 driver. Standard 64-bit drivers won't install on ARM-based PCs.

Step 2: Remove the old printer and driver

1. In Printers & scanners, select the Konica Minolta and click Remove. Remove any duplicates too.
2. Scroll down to Related settings, click Print server properties, and open the Drivers tab. You can also get there by pressing Windows key + R and typing printui /s /t2.
3. Select each Konica Minolta driver, click Remove, choose Remove driver and driver package, and confirm. This step needs admin rights. If Windows says a driver is still in use, restart the computer and try again.
4. Restart the computer.

Step 3: Install and reconnect

1. Unzip the download and run the setup program inside the folder.
2. When the installer searches your network, pick your bizhub from the list. If it doesn't show up, enter the machine's IP address. On i-Series models, you'll find it by tapping Utility, then Device Information on the touch screen.
3. Print a test page.
4. Open Printer properties, go to the Configure tab, and click Obtain Device Information. That lets the driver read your finisher, paper trays, and login settings straight from the machine.

If the installer can't find the machine, add it by hand instead:

1. In Printers & scanners, click Add device, wait a moment, and then click Add manually.
2. Choose Add a printer using an IP address or hostname and click Next.
3. Set Device type to TCP/IP Device and type the bizhub's IP address. Clear the Query the printer and automatically select the driver to use check box, so Windows doesn't pick its own driver. Click Next.
4. If Windows asks for more port details, choose Standard, select Generic Network Card, and click Next.
5. On the driver screen, click Have Disk, then Browse. Open the folder you unzipped, select the .inf file for your version of Windows, and click OK.
6. Choose your model or the Universal driver, name the printer, and finish the wizard. Print a test page, then run Obtain Device Information as described in step 4 above.

Fix 5: Get Back Jobs That Vanish Without Printing

This is the one that confuses people most. The job leaves your queue as if it printed. There's no error on your screen. The bizhub just never prints anything.

If your office uses user logins or department codes (Konica Minolta calls these User Authentication and Account Track), that's almost always the reason. The bizhub only prints jobs that carry the right login details, and Konica Minolta's manuals say it automatically discards any job that arrives without them. When an update swaps or resets the driver, those saved details are often the first thing to go.

1. Make sure the Konica Minolta driver is in use (Fix 1). Microsoft's built-in driver can't send your login unless your office uses Konica Minolta's Print Support App.
2. Let the driver read the machine's settings. Open Printer properties, go to the Configure tab, and click Obtain Device Information. Under Device Option, check that User Authentication and Account Track match how your bizhub is set up. The same button often brings back stapling and hole punch options that went missing after the update.
3. Enter your login again. Open Printing preferences, and on the Basic tab, click Authentication/Account Track. Enter your user name and password, or your department name and password.
4. Test it before you print. Click Verify. Once your details are accepted, click OK and send your job.

Don't know your login? Ask whoever manages the bizhub. It's tempting to have them allow printing without authentication so jobs go through, but that switches off the access control and job tracking your office set up on purpose.

Fix 6: Stop Programs From Freezing When You Click Print

If Word, Excel, Outlook, or even Notepad freezes or closes the moment you print to the Konica Minolta, and it started after your PC moved to Windows 11 24H2, the driver is the likely culprit. Copier technicians reported this after the 24H2 rollout, and updating to a newer Konica Minolta Universal Print Driver resolved it.

1. Try printing from two different programs, such as Notepad and Word. If only one of them freezes, the problem is more likely that program than the driver.
2. If both freeze, install the newest Universal Print Driver for your model with the full clean reinstall in Fix 4. A clean reinstall makes sure the old driver files are really gone.
3. Still freezing? Try the V4 version of Konica Minolta's Universal driver, which technicians also reported working.

Fix 7: Fix Shared Printer and Print Server Errors

If you don't print straight to the bizhub, but through a print server or a coworker's PC that shares it, the update may have blocked that connection rather than anything to do with the printer. You might see:

• "Windows cannot connect to the printer," often with error 0x0000011b or 0x00000709
• A request for an administrator password when Windows tries to install or update the printer's driver from the server

Both trace back to security changes Microsoft made to Windows printing starting in 2021. The admin prompt, for example, is by design: since August 2021, Windows requires admin rights by default to install a printer driver from a server.

Small office without a server: skip the PC in the middle. Office copiers are built to take jobs directly from every computer on the network, so install the Konica Minolta driver on your PC and connect to the bizhub by its IP address (Fix 4). You'll also stop depending on someone else's computer being turned on.

Office with a print server or IT provider: send IT the exact error, your Windows version, and the KB number from your update history. The lasting fixes happen on the server and through Group Policy. That includes deploying the Konica Minolta driver to each PC and making sure printing traffic can get through the firewall. For Windows 11, Microsoft says the server needs TCP port 135 open, plus the high dynamic port range (49152 to 65535) or a fixed port your IT team assigns.

Don't lower security to make the error go away. You'll find registry tweaks online that silence 0x0000011b. They work by turning off the protection those security updates added.

Heads-up for IT (September 2026): administrators have reported that the September 8, 2026 security update for Windows Server 2022 (KB5122882) broke printing through some older Type 3 printer drivers, especially on Remote Desktop servers. Microsoft hadn't listed it as a known issue when this guide was updated, so check Microsoft's Windows release health page before you rebuild drivers or print queues.

Fix 8: Get Scan to Folder Working Again After Windows 11 24H2

Scan to folder is one of the most common things to break when a PC moves to Windows 11 24H2, and it looks like a copier problem even though it isn't. You press Start on the bizhub, it shows a connection or login error, and nothing lands in the folder.

Here's what changed. When the bizhub scans to a shared folder on a PC, it has to sign in to that PC. Windows 11 24H2 Pro, Enterprise, and Education editions now require SMB signing on those connections, and version 24H2 removed the old NTLMv1 sign-in method. A bizhub that's still set to NTLM v1, or has signing turned off, gets turned away even when the password is right.

On the bizhub (needs the administrator password)

1. Type the bizhub's IP address into a web browser to open Web Connection, and log in as the administrator.
2. Go to Network > SMB Setting > Client Setting.
3. Set SMB Authentication Setting to NTLM v2. If your office runs an Active Directory domain, IT may prefer Kerberos.
4. Set the SMB security signature option to When requested (some models call it Only when Requested). Don't leave it on Disable or No Limit.
5. Apply the changes and send a test scan.

Labels shift a little from model to model, and the same settings are available on the touch screen in the administrator's network settings.

Can't find those options? Your bizhub likely needs a firmware update, and some older models can't handle modern SMB security at all. Firmware on Konica Minolta machines is normally updated by your dealer or service technician, so give them a call. Scan to email or a USB drive will keep documents moving in the meantime.

On the PC that holds the scan folder

• Use an account with a real password. The bizhub signs in with a user name and password, and a Windows Hello PIN isn't that password. Many technicians set up a local account just for scanning.
• Keep the network set to Private. Windows turns off file sharing by default on networks set to Public.
• Check the folder's sharing and security permissions, and make sure the scanning account is allowed to save files there.
• Check the destination in the bizhub's address book. If it points to the PC by name and scans still fail, try the PC's IP address instead, and make sure that address doesn't change.

What not to do: plenty of forum posts will tell you to turn off SMB signing on the PC, allow insecure guest logons, or switch SMB1 back on. Microsoft advises against all three, because each one makes the shared folders on that computer easier to attack. Fix the bizhub's settings instead.

For IT: Microsoft has announced that a future Windows release will block network NTLM authentication by default. If your bizhubs scan into a domain, moving them to Kerberos now can save you from fixing scan to folder all over again.

Fix 9: Roll Back the Update or Put It on Pause

Use this when printing broke the moment a specific update installed and none of the fixes above helped. It buys you time. It isn't a permanent answer.

Uninstall the update

1. Go to Settings > Windows Update > Update history.
2. Under Related settings, click Uninstall updates.
3. Find the update that matches the day printing stopped, click Uninstall, and restart.

You'll need admin rights, and Microsoft notes that some updates can't be uninstalled. On Windows 10, go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > View update history > Uninstall updates.

Pause updates so it doesn't reinstall right away

Go to Settings > Windows Update and pause updates. Depending on your Windows 11 build, you'll either pick a number of weeks or choose a date on a calendar, up to about five weeks at a time.

Undo a version upgrade

If the trouble started right after your PC moved to a new version of Windows 11, go to Settings > System > Recovery and look for Go back. It only appears for a limited time after the upgrade, usually 10 days, and some version changes arrive as a small update that you remove from Uninstall updates instead. Going back keeps your files, but apps and drivers installed since the upgrade are removed.

Why rolling back is only temporary: Windows monthly updates are cumulative. Each one includes everything from the months before it, so next month's update will bring the same change right back. That's also why hiding a single update with a PowerShell add-on doesn't last. Use the breathing room to fix the driver or settings, and check Microsoft's Windows release health page to see whether a fix is out. Going without security updates for long leaves your PC exposed.

On a work computer, IT usually manages updates for everyone. Send them the KB number instead of uninstalling it yourself.

Keep the Next Update From Breaking It

A little setup now saves you from doing all of this again next month.

• Save the Konica Minolta installer somewhere shared. Keep the driver you downloaded in Fix 4 on a network drive, along with the ARM64 version if your office has those PCs. A reinstall then takes minutes instead of a search.
• Add printers with Konica Minolta's installer. On Windows 11, adding a printer through Settings now lets Windows choose its built-in driver over Konica Minolta's.
• Keep Windows Update from swapping drivers (Windows 11 Pro, Enterprise, and Education). Open the Local Group Policy Editor (gpedit.msc) and go to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Update > Manage updates offered from Windows Update. Set Do not include drivers with Windows Updates to Enabled. This blocks every driver from Windows Update, not just printer drivers, so you'll update drivers yourself from then on. If IT manages your PCs, ask them instead.
• Print a test page the morning after Patch Tuesday. Microsoft's monthly updates arrive on the second Tuesday. A quick test catches a problem before a deadline does.
• Ask your dealer about firmware at the next service visit. Firmware updates can add support for newer network security settings, which matters most for scan to folder.

What's Changing for Konica Minolta Printers on Windows in 2026

Microsoft is gradually moving Windows away from manufacturer printer drivers and toward its own built-in printing, which it calls Windows Ready Print. The Konica Minolta driver you already have keeps working, but these changes explain a lot of what offices are running into this year.

• January 15, 2026: Microsoft stopped publishing new printer drivers to Windows Update for Windows 11 and Windows Server 2025, and updates to existing ones are only approved case by case. Konica Minolta's own installers still work as before.
• July 1, 2026: When a printer is newly added, Windows now prefers its built-in IPP driver over the manufacturer's driver. Printers you already have set up aren't changed.
• July 8, 2026: Konica Minolta released the free bizhub Print Support App on the Microsoft Store. It works alongside Microsoft's built-in driver and brings back finishing, tray selection, Secure Print, user authentication, and job accounting on a growing list of bizhub i-Series models.
• July 1, 2027: Microsoft will stop accepting updates to manufacturer printer drivers, except for security fixes.

Windows protected print mode is an optional Windows 11 setting, found in Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners, that only allows Microsoft's built-in printing. Turning it on uninstalls every printer that uses a manufacturer's driver, including a Konica Minolta on its regular driver, and turning it back off doesn't restore them. You have to reinstall them yourself. Microsoft says protected print mode will be on by default at some point in the future, and Konica Minolta's Print Support App is built for exactly that setup.

What this means for you

• A bizhub that shows Microsoft IPP Class Driver on a new or freshly reset PC is this change at work, not a fault.
• If you rely on stapling, Secure Print, or department codes, install the Konica Minolta driver with its own installer (Fix 4), or have IT roll out the Print Support App on supported models.
• If your Konica Minolta vanished right after someone turned on Windows protected print mode, turn the setting off and reinstall the printer, or move to the Print Support App if your model is supported.

When to Hand It Off to IT or Your Dealer

Some of these fixes aren't yours to make, and that's fine. Bring in your IT team or Konica Minolta dealer when:

• A fix needs the bizhub's administrator password (Fix 5 or Fix 8) and you don't have it.
• Scan to folder still fails after the SMB changes, or your machine has no NTLM v2 or signing option. That points to firmware, which is a dealer job.
• You print through a print server, or your organization pushes printers to your PC automatically.
• Your PC won't let you uninstall updates, install drivers, or turn off Windows protected print mode.
• Several computers broke on the same day. One report to IT gets everyone fixed at once, instead of each person reinstalling drivers on their own.
