Konica Minolta Printer Offline? Here's How to Get It Back Online

Your computer saysprinter is offline, but the bizhub is powered on and sitting right there. The machine is rarely the problem. The connection to it is.

"Offline" is Windows or macOS telling you it tried to reach the printer and didn't hear back. With Konica Minolta bizhub printers, that usually comes down to a short list of things: a network connection that dropped, an IP address that changed, a Windows setting that's misreading the printer's status, or a power saving mode that doesn't wake up cleanly when a print job comes in.

Here's a useful clue before you start. If the bizhub still makes copies at the touch screen, the printer itself is working. Whatever's wrong sits somewhere between the machine and the computers sending it jobs, and that's what this guide walks you through.

Plenty of bizhub machines are leased and looked after by a Konica Minolta dealer or an office IT team. A few fixes below need the administrator password, and they're clearly marked so you know when to bring someone in. Menu names also differ a little between older bizhub models and the newer i-Series, so where they differ, you'll see both.

Why Your Konica Minolta Printer Shows Offline

These are the reasons a bizhub drops offline most often:

  • The network connection dropped. Most bizhub machines connect with an Ethernet cable. A cable that got bumped loose, a damaged cable, or a dead wall jack or switch port cuts the printer off from everyone. On i-Series models fitted with the optional wireless kit, a new Wi-Fi password or a router swap does the same thing.
  • The printer's IP address changed. Most printers get their address from the router automatically. After a power outage or a router restart, the bizhub can come back with a new address while your computer keeps sending jobs to the old one.
  • Windows can't read the printer's status. Windows checks on network printers using a protocol called SNMP. If SNMP is turned off on the bizhub, or the settings on each side don't match, Windows can label a perfectly healthy printer as offline.
  • The printer is in deep sleep. Out of the box, bizhub machines use their strongest power saving level while asleep. On some networks, a sleeping machine doesn't answer the way Windows expects, so it looks offline until someone wakes it at the panel.
  • The printer was added through a WSD port. WSD ports rely on the printer announcing itself across the network. They lose track of printers more easily than a standard TCP/IP port that points straight at an IP address.
  • Windows switched on "Use Printer Offline," or a stuck job is holding up the queue.
  • The driver or port changed. A Windows update or a driver reinstall can leave the printer attached to a different driver, or to an old port that no longer leads anywhere.
  • A VPN or security software on your computer is blocking the local network. When that happens, your computer can't see anything on the office network, and that includes the printer.

Before You Start: Is It the Printer or Your Computer?

Two minutes of checking here tells you which fixes to use. It can save you from reinstalling drivers on a computer that was never the problem.

  1. Clear anything on the touch screen. If the bizhub shows a paper jam, an open door, or a toner message, take care of that first.
  2. Make a copy. If it copies normally, the machine is working.
  3. Ask a coworker to send a print.
    • Nobody can print: the printer's network connection is the likely problem. Start with Fix 1.
    • Only your computer can't print: the printer is fine. Go straight to Fix 5 on Windows or Fix 11 on a Mac.
  4. Nobody around to ask? The browser test in Fix 3 answers the same question on its own.

How to Fix a Konica Minolta Printer That's Offline

Work through the fixes in the group that matches your situation, and try printing after each one so you know when to stop.

Printer and network fixes (Fixes 1 to 4)

Fix 1: Restart the bizhub Using the Main Power Switch

Pressing the Power key on the control panel doesn't actually restart a bizhub. On many models, a short press just puts the machine into power save mode. A real restart uses the main power switch. Where it is depends on the model, and on many bizhubs it sits behind a front door. Your user guide shows exactly where it is.

  1. Let any job that's printing right now finish.
  2. Turn off the main power switch.
  3. Wait at least 10 seconds. Konica Minolta's manuals call for this, because switching it back on too quickly can cause the machine to start up incorrectly.
  4. Turn the main power switch back on, and wait until the machine is completely ready before you print.

While the bizhub starts up, restart your computer too. That clears a lot of small connection glitches on the computer side at the same time.

Fix 2: Check the Network Cable and Port

Follow the Ethernet cable from the bizhub to the wall jack or network switch it plugs into.

  • Push both ends in firmly until they click.
  • If your model has small lights next to its network port, look at them. No lights at all usually means no connection.
  • Swap in a cable you know works, or try a different wall jack or switch port.
  • If anything changed recently, like an office move, new furniture, or network work, make sure the printer's cable didn't end up in a port on a different network.

If your i-Series bizhub connects over Wi-Fi through the optional wireless kit, confirm your office Wi-Fi name and password haven't changed. Our Konica Minolta printer not connecting to Wi-Fi guide goes deeper on wireless problems.

Fix 3: Find Your Konica Minolta Printer's IP Address and Test It

This one test tells you more than any other step on the page.

Find the IP address on the bizhub:

  • i-Series models: tap Utility, then Device Information. The IP address appears on the screen.
  • Older models: go to Utility > Administrator Settings > Network Settings and open TCP/IP Settings. This needs the administrator password.

An IP address is four groups of numbers separated by periods, such as 192.168.1.40. Write it down, because you may need it again in Fix 7 or Fix 11.

Test it from a computer:

On a computer connected to the same network, type that IP address into the address bar of any web browser and press Enter.

  • Web Connection opens. That's Konica Minolta's built-in settings page, and it means your computer can reach the printer. The network is fine, so the fix is on your computer. Go to Fix 5 for Windows or Fix 11 for a Mac.
  • The page won't load. Your computer can't reach the printer at that address. Check two things:
    • Does the IP address start with 169.254? The bizhub didn't get an address from your network. Recheck the cable (Fix 2) and restart the printer (Fix 1). If it still shows 169.254, the router or network switch needs a look from whoever manages your network.
    • Is your computer on the same network? On Windows, open Command Prompt, type ipconfig, and find your IPv4 address. On most small office networks, the first three groups of numbers should match the printer's. If the printer shows 192.168.1.40 and your computer shows 10.0.0.25, they're on different networks and can't see each other.

Fix 4: Keep bizhub Sleep Mode from Knocking the Printer Offline

This fix needs the administrator password.

Does the bizhub go offline overnight, over lunch, or whenever it sits unused, then come back once someone taps the screen? Sleep mode is the likely cause.

Konica Minolta sets Power Consumption in Sleep Mode to High by default, which is its deepest power saving level. Konica Minolta's own manuals say to choose Disabled when network communication isn't working smoothly with the other options.

  • i-Series models: go to Utility > Administrator > Maintenance > Timer Setting > Power Settings, open Power Consumption in Sleep Mode, and choose Disabled. The same setting is in Web Connection's administrator mode under Maintenance > Timer Setting > Power Settings.
  • Older models: look under Utility > Administrator Settings > System Settings > Power Supply/Power Save Settings.

On that same screen, you can also give the machine more idle time before it sleeps. On many i-Series models, the Sleep Mode Setting timer defaults to 15 minutes and goes as high as 60.

The tradeoff is slightly higher power use while the machine sleeps. If your office has an energy policy for equipment, check with IT before you change it.

Windows 11 and Windows 10 fixes (Fixes 5 to 10)

Fix 5: Turn Off "Use Printer Offline" and Clear the Queue

When Windows can't reach a printer for a while, it can switch the printer into offline mode, and it doesn't always switch it back.

Windows 11:

  1. Open Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
  2. Select your Konica Minolta printer and click Open print queue.
  3. Open the Printer menu. If Use Printer Offline has a check mark, click it to clear it.
  4. In the same menu, choose Cancel All Documents to clear out anything stuck.

Windows 10: open Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners, select the printer, click Open queue, and follow steps 3 and 4 above.

If a job refuses to delete and just sits there marked Deleting, Fix 6 usually clears it. For jobs that keep coming back, see our Konica Minolta printer job stuck in queue guide.

Fix 6: Restart the Print Spooler

The Print Spooler is the Windows service that handles every print job. When it hangs, jobs stop moving and printers can show offline.

  1. Press Windows key + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
  2. Scroll down to Print Spooler.
  3. Right-click it and choose Restart. If its status is blank or Stopped, choose Start instead.
  4. Try printing again.

Fix 7: Point Windows at the Printer's Current IP Address

If the printer's IP address changed, or the printer was added through a WSD port, Windows may be looking in the wrong place. Connecting Windows straight to the IP address you found in Fix 3 is one of the most reliable fixes for a bizhub that shows offline.

  1. Open Printers & scanners, select your Konica Minolta printer, and click Printer properties.
  2. Open the Ports tab and look at the port that's checked.
    • If its name starts with WSD, or the IP address it lists doesn't match the one on the printer, keep going.
    • If it already shows the correct IP address, skip to Fix 8.
  3. Click Add Port, choose Standard TCP/IP Port, and click New Port.
  4. Enter the printer's IP address, click Next, and finish the wizard. If Windows asks for a device type, Generic Network Card works in most cases.
  5. Back on the Ports tab, make sure the new port is checked, then click Apply.

On a work computer, this step may need admin rights, or your printers may be managed through a print server. If so, pass this fix along to IT.

Fix 8: Stop Windows from Marking the Printer Offline by Mistake (SNMP)

If the browser test in Fix 3 worked but Windows still calls the printer offline, or the printer keeps flipping between online and offline, SNMP is a common reason. Windows uses it to ask the printer for its status. When that check fails, Windows marks the printer offline even though the printer is ready to print.

  1. In Printer properties, open the Ports tab.
  2. Select the checked TCP/IP port and click Configure Port.
  3. Clear the SNMP Status Enabled check box.
  4. Click OK, then Apply.

Printing works the same as before. What you give up is some of the detailed status information Windows would otherwise show, such as paper or device warnings.

If your IT team would rather keep SNMP on, the other option is to make both sides match. The community name in this Windows port window needs to match the one set on the bizhub, and an administrator can check that in Web Connection under the network settings for SNMP.

Fix 9: Rule Out a VPN or Security Software

A VPN can send your computer's traffic away from the office network entirely, which hides the printer from your computer.

  • Disconnect the VPN and try printing again.
  • If that works, look in your VPN app for a setting that allows local network access, or ask IT whether it can be turned on.
  • If the trouble started after new security software was installed, ask IT to check whether its firewall is blocking printer traffic.

Fix 10: Remove the Printer and Reinstall the Konica Minolta Driver

If you're still seeing offline, start clean. A fresh install clears out a damaged driver, old ports, and duplicate printer entries.

  1. In Printers & scanners, select the Konica Minolta printer and choose Remove. If you see extra copies of it, such as one ending in "(Copy 1)," remove those too.
  2. Download the current driver for your exact model from Konica Minolta's official support site. In the US, that's the Support & Downloads section of the Konica Minolta Business Solutions website.
  3. Run the installer. When it asks how to find the printer, let it search the network or enter the IP address from Fix 3.
  4. Print a test page.

A note for Windows 11: as of July 2026, Windows prefers Microsoft's own built-in IPP driver when you add a new printer that supports it. Everyday printing works fine with it, but options like finishing, tray selection, user authentication, and job accounting may be missing. In July 2026, Konica Minolta released a free Print Support App on the Microsoft Store that brings those options back on supported bizhub i-Series models. Our Konica Minolta printer driver guide helps you choose, and if the offline problem started right after an update, see Konica Minolta printer issue after Windows update.

Mac fix (Fix 11)

Fix 11: Get Your Konica Minolta Printer Back Online on a Mac

  1. Check the queue. Open Apple menu > System Settings > Printers & Scanners, select the Konica Minolta printer, and click Printer Queue. If the printer is paused, click Resume. Delete any job that won't finish.
  2. Remove the printer. Back in Printers & Scanners, select it and click Remove Printer.
  3. Add it back by IP address. Click Add Printer, Scanner, or Fax, then open the IP tab. Enter the IP address from Fix 3 and set Protocol to Line Printer Daemon - LPD. If the Konica Minolta driver is already installed on your Mac, it's usually selected automatically once the Mac identifies the printer. Click Add.
  4. Printer not showing up in the list? Macs find network printers through Bonjour, and it isn't always turned on at the bizhub. An administrator can turn it on in Web Connection under Network > Bonjour Setting.

Last resort: reset the printing system. This removes every printer and print job from the Mac, so only use it when nothing else has worked. In Printers & Scanners, Control-click an empty spot in the printer list, choose Reset printing system, and confirm. Then add the printer back using step 3.

If Your Konica Minolta Printer Keeps Going Offline

Getting the printer back online once is the easy part. If it keeps dropping every few days, the fix has to stick.

Give the printer an IP address that never changes. A printer that picks up a new address after every power outage will keep going offline no matter how many times you clear the queue. There are two ways to lock it in:

  • Reserve the address in your router. This is often called a DHCP reservation. The printer still gets its address automatically, but it's the same address every time. It's usually the simpler option, and it keeps all address assignments in one place.
  • Set a fixed address on the bizhub itself. In Web Connection's administrator mode, go to Network > TCP/IP Setting > TCP/IP Setting1. Change IP Address Setting Method to Manual Setting, then enter the IP address, subnet mask, and default gateway. Choose an address outside the range your router hands out automatically, or two devices could end up fighting over the same address.

If the address changes as part of this, update the Windows port (Fix 7) and the Mac setup (Fix 11) on every computer that prints to it.

Then make sure the other repeat causes are covered:

  • Power Consumption in Sleep Mode set to Disabled (Fix 4)
  • A Standard TCP/IP port instead of a WSD port (Fix 7)
  • SNMP status checks turned off, or matched on both sides (Fix 8)

One more thing for shared printers: fixing a single computer won't stop everyone else from seeing the printer offline. Every computer still using the old port needs the same change, or IT can roll it out through a print server.

When to Call Your Dealer or IT Team

Some offline problems aren't worth fighting on your own. Contact your Konica Minolta dealer, service provider, or IT team when:

  • You need the administrator password and don't have it. Konica Minolta's manuals say to contact your service representative if the default password has been changed.
  • The printer shows no network connection at all, even with a cable and wall jack you know are working.
  • The printer loses its network settings or its IP address after restarts.
  • Your office prints through a print server or print management software. If that server has a problem, every printer attached to it can show offline, and the fix happens on the server, not the bizhub.
  • The machine is leased or under a service agreement. Check your agreement before paying for outside help, since network and connection support may already be included.

Before you call, have these ready: the model name on the front of the machine, the IP address from Fix 3, anything shown on the touch screen, whether everyone or only you is affected, and which fixes you've already tried. It makes the call much shorter.

FAQs

Why does my Konica Minolta printer say offline when it's turned on?

Being powered on doesn't mean your computer can reach it. The usual causes are a changed IP address, a Windows port still pointing at an old address, a failed SNMP status check, or the bizhub sitting in deep sleep. Type the printer's IP address into a web browser. If its Web Connection page opens, the problem is on your computer, not the printer.

Restart the bizhub with its main power switch, waiting at least 10 seconds before you turn it back on. Then, on Windows, open the printer's queue, clear the check mark next to Use Printer Offline in the Printer menu, and cancel any stuck jobs. If it goes offline again, connect Windows to the printer's IP address with a Standard TCP/IP port.

Power saving is the most likely reason. Konica Minolta sets Power Consumption in Sleep Mode to High by default, and its manuals recommend Disabled when network communication isn't smooth. On i-Series models, an administrator can change it under Utility > Administrator > Maintenance > Timer Setting > Power Settings.

On i-Series bizhub models, tap Utility, then Device Information, and the IP address appears on the screen. On older models, look under Utility > Administrator Settings > Network Settings > TCP/IP Settings, which needs the administrator password. Your router's list of connected devices shows it too.

At the control panel, tap Utility, then Administrator (Administrator Settings on older models), and enter the administrator password. From a computer, type the printer's IP address into a browser to open Web Connection, choose Administrator, and click Login. Konica Minolta's manuals list the factory default password as 1234567812345678. If it's been changed, contact your IT team or service provider.

Almost certainly not. Copying happens entirely inside the machine, while printing depends on the network and on your computer. If the bizhub copies normally, focus on the network cable, the printer's IP address, and the printer port your computer is using.

For most offices, yes. Clearing that check box only stops Windows from asking the printer for status updates, and print jobs still go through as usual. You'll see fewer status details in Windows, like paper or device warnings. If IT uses SNMP to monitor printers, ask them first, since they may prefer to match the settings instead.

Updates can replace the printer driver or change the port it uses. Open Printer properties, go to the Ports tab, and confirm the checked port still points to the printer's current IP address. If it does, reinstall the latest driver for your model. Our Konica Minolta printer issue after Windows update guide covers this in more detail.
