A printer in an error state is typically recognized by a “printer in error" message on the computer. In this error, the printer will not print anything, or will print faded or misaligned prints. Plus, you will see some error codes on the printer’s display, such as “Low ink/toner,” “paper jam,” or any other error in numerical code. The lights on the printer will either blink, or the computer will show your printer offline (the printer is not connected to the wireless connection). If all of these are happening with you, your OKI printer is in an error state and needs to be fixed soon.
Solution 1: Check the Connection Between the Printer and the Computer
When an OKI printer is in an error state, the biggest reason behind this is the connection between your printer and PC. Hence, you should check the connection first.
- To begin, click the Windows icon on the computer’s taskbar and search for the Control Panel.
- Then, select the View Devices and Printers option under the Hardware and Sound option.
- Now, locate your printer and select it once you see it.
- Check the Status of your printer below its name. Ensure that it says Ready.
If it says Ready, your printer is well connected to your computer. But if it doesn’t say ready, the connection is compromised. Check out the next method to resolve this issue.
Solution 2: Run the Troubleshooter on Windows
A Windows computer has a feature called Troubleshooter. It detects the issues with the computer and the devices it is connected to, such as a printer, and resolves them automatically. Check how to run it:
- First of all, click the Start button on the taskbar of a Windows computer, and search for the Settings option.
- Then, click the System option on the left side of the screen and scroll down until you see the Troubleshoot option on the right side of the screen.
- Now, click the Other Troubleshooters option.
- You will see the Printer option. Click the Run button next to it.
Let the troubleshooter run and detect the main issue behind the constant errors with the printer. When an issue is detected on the printer, the computer will clear it soon. Move on to the next solution method if it doesn’t work.
Solution 3: Update the Windows System
When your Windows version is not updated, the printer will not connect to it. Consequently, it will show your OKI printer in an error state. If you keep your Windows updates on hold, change this habit because it is making your PC incompatible with your other devices.
To update the Windows version, check out these steps:
- Click the Windows Start button (a square-like icon) on the taskbar of your Windows computer.
- Then, search for the Settings option and click the System option on the left side.
- Now, click the Windows Update option.
- Next, check for the Windows updates that are available and click the update button to update.
Finally, your Windows version will be updated, which will also resolve the problem with your printer.
