OKI printers are known for providing quality prints every time, but there can be various issues a user encounters with a printer. One of these errors is the “Printer in error state.”

1.  Are you using a weird printer? If yes, you must ensure the cable is correctly plugged into your printer and computer. Ensure the cable is not damaged.

Follow these steps to confirm that your PC properly recognizes your printer:- 

• In the start menu search bar, insert the control panel and select the best match.
• From the hardware and sound options, click View devices and printers.
• Now you will be able to see installed devices on your PC. Look for your PC and select it.
• If you see the status field saying ready at the bottom bar, your PC recognizes the printer.

 2. Reboot your printer

Many temporary issues can be fixed with rebooting, which also applies to printers. When this notification pops up on your computer that your printer is in an error state, it's best to turn off your printer and then turn it on again. 

In most printers, you can do one thing by pressing the power button on the printer itself, which also turns it off. Then you have to wait for half a minute and press the power button again. 

Now, there is a possibility that your PC no longer displays the error message.

3. Verify the level of paper and cartridge ink 

The error may also occur because of sufficient ink levels or enough paper in the paper tray. Technically, this issue is not with your PC but with your printer. 

First, load some printing paper into the paper tray. Turn on the printer and check the ink levels. If the levels are low, replace the cartridges.

 4. Install the printer drivers again 

Drivers that need to be updated and fixed can cause these errors. Reinstalling them can fix your problem. 

Here's how you can do that:-

• From the PC, you have to disconnect the printer.
• On your computer, launch the control panel. 
• You can select the view devices and printers option under the hardware and sound.
• In the device list, you can find your printer.
• Right-click and select Remove device on your printer.
• A question will appear asking if you want to remove the selected printer. You have to select yes in the prompt to continue.
• After connecting the printer to the Pc, the Pc should automatically install the drivers again.

5. Set the printer spooler service in automatic mode 

It is best to set the printer spooler service in automatic mode to check if it fixes the error "printer in error state."

• To open the Run dialog, press the Windows key + R and type. Services. Msc and press enter.
• Find the printer spooler service in the list, right-click it, and select properties.
• A drop-down menu is next to start up type; you must click it and choose Automatic.
• Click on apply
• Reboot your PC
