1. Are you using a weird printer? If yes, you must ensure the cable is correctly plugged into your printer and computer. Ensure the cable is not damaged.
Follow these steps to confirm that your PC properly recognizes your printer:-
- In the start menu search bar, insert the control panel and select the best match.
- From the hardware and sound options, click View devices and printers.
- Now you will be able to see installed devices on your PC. Look for your PC and select it.
- If you see the status field saying ready at the bottom bar, your PC recognizes the printer.
2. Reboot your printer
Many temporary issues can be fixed with rebooting, which also applies to printers. When this notification pops up on your computer that your printer is in an error state, it's best to turn off your printer and then turn it on again.
In most printers, you can do one thing by pressing the power button on the printer itself, which also turns it off. Then you have to wait for half a minute and press the power button again.

5. Set the printer spooler service in automatic mode
It is best to set the printer spooler service in automatic mode to check if it fixes the error "printer in error state."
- To open the Run dialog, press the Windows key + R and type. Services. Msc and press enter.
- Find the printer spooler service in the list, right-click it, and select properties.
- A drop-down menu is next to start up type; you must click it and choose Automatic.
