An OKI printer goes offline when it’s not connected to a stable wireless network. In other words, when a printer goes offline, it is unable to communicate with the printer and hence fails to print a document. Plus, the Wi-Fi light on the printer starts blinking or completely turns off. Even the control panel on the printer shows a “printer offline” error. If this happens with your OKI printer, you need to fix it soon, otherwise you won’t be able to print again with it.
Basic Solutions
When your printer goes offline, it can be due to a minor issue such as loose cables or a weak internet connection. So, start by fixing that.
Solution 1: Check the Cables
- First of all, check if the power cables are connected properly to your computer and printer.
- Also, check if the printer and computer are turned on from the main power switch.
- Then, check if the USB cables are well connected to your devices. If these cables are loose or broken, replace them.
- Also, try changing the USB port of the USB cables.
This is the primary method and can fix the printer offline error. However, if it doesn’t resolve the error, move on to the next method.
Solution 2: Set Your OKI Printer as the Default Device
- First of all, click the Windows button on the keyboard of your Windows computer.
- Then, search for the Settings option and inside Settings, select the Devices option.
- Now, click the Printers & Scanners option and select your OKI printer.
- After that, click the Set as default option.
With this method, your offline printer will go online once it is set as the default device.
Advanced Solutions
If the basic solutions don’t fix your issue, try some advanced solutions.
Solution 1: Restart the Print Spooler
The print spooler service is a feature on the Windows computer. This feature handles all your printing jobs. If the printer is offline, you can restart this feature to fix the issue. Check out the steps below to do that:
- To start, click the Windows Start button on your computer’s taskbar.
- Then, search for the Services option and open it.
- Now, locate the Print Spooler option by scrolling down and then right-click on it.
- After that, select the Restart option. You can also first choose the Stop button and then select the Start button.
If this doesn’t fix your issue, check out the next method.
Solution 2: Add Your Printer by IP Address
You can manually add your network printer by IP address to your computer. Check the steps for that:
- First of all, you need to print a network configuration page from the printer. To do this, go to the Settings menu on the display and select the Reports option.
- Then, the printer will print a network sheet with an IP address on it. Note the address to add the printer.
- Now, go to the Start button on your Windows computer and search for the Printers & Scanners option.
- Thereafter, click the Add a printer or scanner option.
- Next, click “The printer I want isn’t listed” to manually add the printer.
- Choose the “Add a printer using a TCP/IP address or hostname” option, and click Next.
You need to provide the IP address to set up the manual connection between your printer and computer. This method will definitely work for your printer’s offline error.
Generally, an OKI printer goes offline for many reasons, including a weak internet connection, outdated printer drivers, printer’s physical damage, etc. You can resolve this error very easily by checking the internet and cable connection, updating printer drivers, manually adding your printer to the computer, and setting it as the default device on the computer.
