OKI Printer Paper Jam

A printer jam issue refers to a condition when a print job is stuck inside the printer and stops it from printing anything. It can occur due to a variety of reasons, like incorrect feeding of the paper, wrong paper type or size, and physical damage to the printer. If the papers inside your OKI printer are not aligned correctly, chances are that your printer will get a paper jam.

A paper jam in your printer can be recognized by seeing the error messages and codes on the printer’s screen. It usually shows a “paper jam” error message when a paper jam has occurred. Moreover, the printer doesn’t print properly and makes weird noises while processing a print job. If you have been experiencing similar problems, your printer has a paper jam that you need to clear immediately.

What Causes a Paper Jam?

A paper jam is typically caused by:

  • Incorrect paper loading.
  • Overburdening the paper tray.
  • Using the wrong paper type and size.
  • Feed rollers are dirty and stop papers from moving.
  • The paper feeder tray is dirty.

Fix 1: Clear the Stuck Paper (Quick Solution)

The paper jam error on an OKI printer can be resolved with some quick solutions that won’t take much time.

Step 1: Turn off the Printer

  1. First of all, press and hold the power button on the OKI printer to turn it off.
  2. Then, remove its power cable from the switchboard on the wall.

Step 2: Remove the Stuck Paper

  1. To start, open the printer’s front cover by gently pulling it down. If you can’t find it, check your printer’s manual.
  2. Then, check for any leftover paper or packaging material. Pull it out gently from there using your hands. You can also use a flashlight to check deeper.
  3. Also, check the error codes on your printer’s display carefully. The display tells the location of the paper jam, such as the duplex unit, the automatic document feeder, etc.

If your paper jam is in any of these locations, you can use your printer’s manual to find the location.

Step 3: Turn on the Printer

  1. Now, reconnect the power cable of the printer to the main switchboard.
  2. Finally, press and hold the power button on your printer to turn it on until the green light flashes.

Fix 2: Clean the Feed Rollers

Feed rollers are present in the paper feeder tray. These are made up of rubber, which works by grabbing and pulling the papers from the tray to process printing. These feed rollers are important to keep the papers in place and release them for printing when a print job is sent to them.

When these rollers get dirty, they stop the papers from moving for printing jobs. Therefore, you see a paper jam error on the printer. Check out the steps to clean these rollers:

Step 1: Turn off the Printer

  1. First, press and hold the power button on the printer to turn it off.
  2. Remove the printer power cable from the power supply.

Step 2: Locate the Feed Rollers

  • First, you need to open the paper tray. It’s like a pull-out drawer at the front of your printer.
  • Pull it out gently, check if any paper is stuck in the tray, and remove it.
  • Now, locate the feed rollers, which are just above where your papers sit.

Step 3: Clean the Feed Rollers

  1. After that, dampen the cloth slightly and clean the rollers directly. You don’t have to remove the rollers.
  2. But you can remove the papers from the tray before cleaning the rollers. You can easily remove the papers by gently pulling them out of the tray.
  3. Now, clean the rollers with a damp cloth. Then, let the rollers dry completely.

The feed rollers will get dry in just 10-15 minutes. Then, put the papers back in the paper tray.

Step 4: Turn on the Printer

  1. Reconnect the power cable of your printer to the switchboard on the wall.
  2. Then, press and hold the power button on the printer until the green light flashes.

Fix 3: Update OKI Printer Software

The printer software is responsible for setting up the communication between a printer and the computer. This software ensures that your sent print job reaches the printer, and the printer understands it and prints it. As the printer can’t understand the computer’s language, this software translates the language into a language that the printer understands.

When this software is not updated, a paper jam can occur. Check the following steps to update the printer software.

Step 1: Download the Software/Drivers

  1. First of all, check your OKI printer model and note it down. You can refer to your printer’s manual to check this.
  2. Then, browse oki.com on an internet browser, click the Support option at the top of the screen, and select the Drivers & Utilities option.
  3. Now, select your printer and check its model name in the next window.
  4. After that, select your operating system (Windows version) and press Enter.
  5. Next, scroll down and click the Download Here button to download the software.

Let the drivers download into your PC’s Downloads folder.

Step 2: Install the Software/Drivers

  1. Go to your Downloads folder on the computer and double-click on the driver’s file.
  2. Then, a setup window will appear; click Yes or Run.
  3. When a window pops up about the software installation, click the Next option.
