XEROX Printer Issue After Windows Update


Sometimes, a Windows update can cause problems with your Xerox printer and stop it from printing. Because the new version may not be compatible with your Xerox printer. Many times, the printer also shows a random error message or code on the display after Windows update. In this case, you need troubleshooting methods to fix the problem. Let’s have a look at them. 

Step 1: Restart Your Devices

Xerox Printer:

  1. Press and hold the power button at the front of your printer to turn it off. 
  2. Then, remove the power cable of your printer from the power socket on the wall. 
  3. Now, wait for 1-2 minutes and reconnect the power cable to the power socket on the wall again. 
  4. Finally, press the power button on the printer. 

Windows Computer:

  1. Click the Windows icon on the taskbar at the bottom left of the screen. 
  2. Then, click the power button and click the Restart option. 

That’s how you will restart both of your devices to fix the issue. Check if your printer starts responding to print requests. If not, check out the other troubleshooting methods. 

Step 2: Run the Windows Troubleshooter

Your Windows computer has a feature known as Troubleshooter, which detects and fixes problems within the computer or connected devices. As the problem is in the printer, it will fix the issue. Check how to turn this feature on. 

 

  1. Click the Start icon on the computer’s taskbar at the bottom left of the screen. 
  2. Then, search for the Settings option (a gear-like icon) and open it. 
  3. Now, select the System option from the left sidebar of the screen. 
  4. After that, click the Troubleshoot option on the right side of the screen. You need to scroll down to find this option. 
  5. Under the Troubleshoot window, click the Other Troubleshooters option. 
  6. Next, select the Printer and click the Run option next to it. 

Lastly, your Windows computer will start detecting the problem within the printer and will resolve it automatically. If this method doesn’t work for you, check out the next method. 

Step 3: Uninstall and Reinstall the Xerox Printer

As the printer is not working, you should try uninstalling and reinstalling it on your PC. This method is very effective in fixing the problems after a Windows update. Now, check how to do it: 

Uninstall: 

  1. First, click the Start icon on the computer’s taskbar on the bottom left. 
  2. Then, search for the Printers and Scanners option. Select it from the results obtained and open it. 
  3. Now, find your Xerox printer and right-click on it. 
  4. After that, click the Remove option. 

Reinstall: 

  1. Again, open the Printers and Scanners option on the computer. 
  2. Then, click the Add device or “Add a printer or scanner” option. 
  3. When you see your Xerox printer in the list of devices, select it.

Step 4: Update Printer Drivers

Printer drivers are software that help your printer understand the printing commands from the computer. If the Xerox printer drivers are not updated, it can cause problems with the printer’s function. Hence, you must update the printer drivers for your Xerox printer from its official website. Download: 

  1. First of all, open an internet browser and navigate to xerox.com. 
  2. Then, click the Support option from the tabs at the top. 
  3. Select the Support & Drivers option. 
  4. After that, scroll down and search for your Xerox printer model in the search bar. 
  5. Next, a list of links will appear. Select the link for printer drivers. 
  6. Then, a new page will appear. Select your operating system and then check the box below to let the drivers download. 

Let the drivers download on your computer. 

Install: 

  1. Once the driver file is downloaded to your computer, locate that folder. 
  2. Then, double-click on the file saved as setup.exe. 
  3. The screen will ask you if you want to run this software. Click Yes to permit. 
  4. Let the installation process start and finish completely, and don’t turn off your devices during that.
