It is annoying when your Xerox printer is not printing. Even when you send the print command multiple times, it doesn’t respond. This issue can arise due to reasons like wireless connection issues, outdated printer drivers, or a print job stuck in the queue. You will only be able to print again once the exact problem has been resolved. This is how to fix the Xerox printer not printing issues based on the reasons.
Reason #1: Incorrect Connections
When you don’t connect your printer to devices and the wireless network correctly, the printer will not print. Here are the solutions for fixing the incorrect connections.
For a USB Connection
- If you’re using a USB connection, check if the USB cable is securely connected to the printer.
- It shouldn’t be loose or damaged. If you find it loose, tighten it.
- Also, check if the USB cable is securely connected to your device, such as a computer or mobile device.
- If you find the USB cable damaged on the printer or computer, replace it with a new one.
For the Wireless Connection
If you’re using a WiFi connection, ensure that your computer and printer are connected to the same network. This is how to check it.
Step 1: On the Computer
- Click the WiFi icon on the computer’s taskbar at the bottom right corner.
- Then, check the network name and note it down.
You have to match it with the printer’s wireless network.
Step 2: On the Printer
- First, go to the Xerox printer’s home screen or Control Panel.
- Then, locate the Settings option using the touchscreen or buttons, depending on your printer model.
- Go to the Network Settings or Wireless Settings option.
- Next, select the Wireless Setup Wizard option.
- Check for your WiFi network on the Control Panel.
- Match it with your computer’s wireless network.
Check if the wireless network matches on both devices. If they are not the same, it is the problem behind the printing issue. Connect both devices to the same network.
Reason #2: Sent Too Many Print Jobs
When you overload the print queue with too many print jobs, the printer will not print. Sometimes, due to work pressure or urgency, you can send loads of print commands to the printer. In this case, you should clear the print queue.
Note: The Print queue is the waiting line for the printable documents. When you send multiple print commands to a printer, it decides which document to print first, and so on. Clearing the print queue means deleting the extra documents.
Solution: Clear the Print Queue
- Click the Start icon on the computer’s taskbar at the bottom left.
- Then, search for the Control Panel.
- Now, select View Devices and Printers under Hardware and Sound.
- After that, select your Xerox printer and right-click on it.
- Next, select the See What’s Printing option.
- A window will pop up. Click the Printers option at the top.
- Select all the print jobs and click Cancel All Documents.
That’s how you can fix the Xerox printer’s not printing problem.
Reason #3: Outdated Printer Drivers
When you don’t update the printer drivers for your Xerox printer, it won’t print. Printer drivers are the software that links your printer to the device. They allow your printer to understand the computer’s commands. Therefore, you need to update them using the steps given below.
Solution: Update the Printer Drivers
Download:
- Press the Windows and X keys together on the keyboard to open the Device Manager.
- Then, scroll down in the Device Manager window and find the Printers or Print Queue option.
- Find your Xerox printer on this page and right-click on it.
- Select the Update driver option from the menu.
- Next, select whether you want to search it automatically or browse it on the computer.
- Choose to search automatically as you need the latest drivers.
- When a new driver is found, let it download on the computer.
Install:
- Go to the Downloads folder on your computer.
- Then, find the driver’s file and double-click on it.
- Now, click Yes when a prompt asks you to run this application.
- An installation window will start installing the drivers. Let that process finish.
