XEROX Printer Setup Issue

Setting up a Xerox printer can be a little tricky for new users. It can be set up via a wired or wireless connection method. Plus, it is compatible with almost all operating systems, such as Windows, Mac, iOS, and Android. Therefore, you can set it up with any device of your choice via USB or WiFi connections. Now, let’s check how to set up the Xerox printer.

What Do You Need to Set Up a Xerox Printer?

You need the following things to set up a Xerox printer:

  1. Power cord
  2. USB cable
  3. Windows Computer
  4. Stable internet connection
  5. A power socket near the printer

Method 1: USB Connection

The fastest and easiest way to set up a Xerox printer is via a USB connection. Check out the steps below:

  1. Take the USB cable that you received in your printer’s box.
  2. Then, connect one end of the USB cable to the USB port of your computer.
  3. Connect the other end to the printer’s USB port.
  4. Now, your computer will start downloading and installing printer drivers. If it doesn’t, follow the driver installation instructions in the section below.

Method 2: WiFi Connection

If you prefer a wireless connection with your Xerox printer, you can try the WiFi connection. Check out the steps below to set it up.

  1. To start, go to the menu on your Xerox printer through buttons or the touchscreen.
  2. Then, go to the Settings option using the arrow buttons.
  3. Find the Network option under the Settings menu using the arrow keys or your touchscreen.
  4. Next, click the WiFi Setup option under the Network settings menu.
  5. Select your wireless network from the given list.
  6. Provide the network name and password in the given field. (Note: You will find your network name and password on the back or side of your wireless router.)

Then, your printer will recognize your wireless network and connect to it. To complete the setup, you will need the necessary printer drivers. In some cases, the computer will automatically install the printer drivers, but if it doesn’t you can install them manually, too.

How to Download & Install Xerox Printer Drivers?

Let’s see the steps involved in downloading and installing the printer drivers.

Download:

  1. Open an internet browser on your computer and visit xerox.com.
  2. Then, click the Support option at the top of the screen and from the drop-down options select Support and Drivers.
  3. Now, scroll down on the Support page and type your Xerox printer’s name in the search bar and press Enter.
  4. On the next page, open the Drivers and Downloads tab and a page will appear showing a list of printer drivers for your Xerox printer.
  5. Now you can click the Download buttons below the listed printer drivers to download them on your computer
  6. In the next step, a download window will appear asking you to choose your operating system; select your operating system.
  7. You’ll see a license agreement on the same screen. Check that agreement box and let the printer drivers download on your computer.

Finally, the printer drivers will be saved on your computer under the Downloads folder.

Install:

  1. Go to your Downloads folder on the computer.
  2. Then, double-click on your driver’s file. It is usually an .exe file.
  3. Your computer will ask you to run this file. Select Yes to run this file.

Finally, an installation window will appear on your computer. Let that process finish.

FAQs

Can I Set Up My Xerox Printer via Bluetooth?

Yes, you can. However, most of the Xerox printers are not compatible with Bluetooth. Therefore, you first need to check your printer’s manual to confirm if your printer has Bluetooth access. Once you are sure, you can pair your Xerox printer with a computer or a mobile device.

Check out the steps below to connect a Xerox printer to a Mac:

  1. Open the Apple menu on your Mac.

  2. Then, select System Settings.

  3. Under these settings, select the Printers & Scanners option from the sidebar.

  4. Now, click the Add printer, scanner, or fax button on the screen.

  5. Select your printer’s name from the list of available devices.

  6. Finally, click the Add option to connect it to your Mac.

If your Xerox printer fails to connect to WiFi, it means that either your printer is not turned on or the WiFi signal is weak. When the WiFi signal is not in the required range, it will not connect to your Xerox printer.
