7 Common Brother Printer Errors and Fixes | Printer Tales

Step 2: Open Jam Clear Cover

• Turn the machine to the front and close the Jam Clear Cover.
• Then, unlock the lock by lifting the flat-bed scanner cover.

• Open the printer and check that everything is installed correctly.

Error 3: Brother Printer in Error State

The “Brother Printer in Error State” error occurs due to these:

• Improperly Plugs or USB Setup
• Corrupt/ Missing/ Outdated Printer driver
• BIOS issue (interrupted conversion between PC and printer)
• Weak or Slow Wireless Connection

Solution 1: Check the Cables/ Network

• To properly distribute the toner in the toner cartridge, remove it from the printer.
• You must hold the level with both hands and gently shake it from side to side several times.
• Remove all of the protective covering and tape.
• Once you hear it lock into place, insert the new toner cartridge into the drum unit.
      a. The green lock lever will activate on its own when inserted correctly.
• Now, clean the corona wire of the drum unit.
• Slide the green tab from right to left and from left to right.
• After the cleaning process is finished, slide the green tab to the home position.
• After that, close the front cover after installing the toner cartridge and drum unit assembly.

Error 5: Contaminated Fuser Unit

• Start by opening the fuser cover.
• Then, pull the green levers down.
• After that, see if you can now reach the fuser roller.

Error 6: The printed pages have dots or spots

If you are dealing with pages that have dots or spots, then try to clean the drum unit and the wire within.

• Start with opening the front cover.
• Then, take out the toner cartridge and drum unit assembly.
• Push the green lock lever to remove the toner cartridge from the drum unit.
• Move the green or blue tab back and forth across the drum unit. 
      a. Repeat the process six to eight times before putting it back.
• Once you hear it lock into place, firmly set the toner cartridge into the drum unit.
• Now, reseat the drum unit and toner cartridge in the machine.
• Finally, you can close the front cover and restart the print system.

Error 7: Brother Printer Code 48 

The status code 48 means the print head cable or circuit board is damaged. It could have happened due to the material, like a paper clip or ripped paper that struck the print head. Now, here is what you need to do to fix it.

• Unplug the printer from the wall outlet.
• Then, use the plastic tabs or finger grips and lift the scanner cover.
• Make sure that the device is kept in an open position.
• Find the transparent plastic Encoder Strip in front of the white vinyl band.
• After that, wipe both sides of the encoder strip and use a dry lint cloth.

• Once you have cleaned the right encoder strip, wipe the left one as well.
• To entirely clean the encoder strip, repeat the steps.
• Finally, close the scanner cover and plug the devices into the power source.
