Tally Printer Setup Issue


Setting up a Tally printer can be very challenging if you’ve never done it before. You will feel that you’re doing everything right as written in the User Manual, but the printer just won’t connect with the computer or start printing.

Basic Troubleshooting Steps 

When your printer is unable to set up, reset your printer and computer to their default settings. As sometimes technical glitches can stop your printer from working properly, a restart will work great to overcome this. 

Step 1: Restart Your Printer

  1. Turn off the printer by pressing the power button on it, and disconnect the power cord from the printer and the power supply.  
  2. Wait for about a minute, and reconnect the power cable to the printer and the power supply. 
  3. Finally, turn on the printer by pressing the power button. 

Step 2: Restart Your Computer

There are multiple ways to restart a computer. The two easiest ways are given below. 

Method 1: Via the Start Menu 
  1. Hit the Start button on your computer’s taskbar. 
  2. Then, click the Power button and select Restart. 
Method 2: Via Keyboard Shortcut 
  1. Press and hold Alt + F4 together. 
  2. Select the Restart option from the screen. 

Advanced Troubleshooting Steps 

If your Tally printer is not connecting to a wireless network, the network is likely faulty. In order to fix this issue, you must set up a new wireless connection with your Tally printer. Check out the steps below to do it. 

Step 1: Disconnect the Old Wireless Connection

  1. Go to your Tally printer’s display and select the Settings option. 
  2. Then, open the Network and Connection Settings under the Settings option. 
  3. Select the wireless connection you are currently using and select the "Forget Networkoption. 

Now, your printer will be completely disconnected from the wireless network. Now, you need to add a new wireless connection using the next steps. 

Step 2: Connect to a New Wireless Connection

  1. Go to the Settings option on your printer’s display. 
  2. Then, open the Network Settings and select Wireless connection
  3. Now, choose a new wireless connection you want to connect to your printer and enter the password. 

Finally, your Tally printer is connected to the new wireless network.
