Issues like being unable to connect to the PC, outdated printer drivers, printer offline error, etc, stop a Samsung printer from printing. In this situation, the printer doesn’t respond even if you send the document multiple times. Instead, it shows error messages on the printer’s LCD, like “printer not connected” or “printer offline”. But the good thing is that you can resolve it using the correct steps to start printing again.
Solution 1: Check the Printer Connections
If the printer is not connected to a device, whether via USB or WiFi connection, it won’t print. It will show a “printer offline” error message on the LCD screen. Hence, verify the printer’s connection to resolve it. Here is how to check:
For USB Users:
- Tighten the USB cables from both ends, connecting your printer to the computer.
- Change the cable if it’s broken or damaged.
- Try different USB ports to connect the USB cable.
For WiFi Users:
- Make sure the WiFi light on the printer is solid blue.
- If it is blinking in red or orange light, reconnect your printer to WiFi.
To reconnect the printer, use the following steps:
- Press the Menu button on a Samsung printer’s Control Panel. Note that the Control Panel varies from printer to printer. In some printers, it will be a touch screen, and in others, it will be buttons.
- Use the arrow keys to find the Network option, and press OK.
- Select the Wireless option using the arrow buttons and press OK.
- Then, select WLAN Settings with the same keys and hit OK again.
- Under WLAN Settings, select the Wizard option and press OK.
- Enter the network’s password when asked for a WPA key.
- Finally, the printer will connect to WiFi.
If the connection is good, but the printer is still not printing, check other methods to fix it.
Solution 2: Restart the Printer
A restart of the Samsung printer will remove the minor technical problems that can stop it from printing. Check how to restart it:
- Press the printer’s power button to turn it off.
- Then, disconnect the printer’s power cord from the main power switch.
- Wait for 1-2 minutes and reconnect the cable to the main switch.
- Now, press the printer’s power button to turn it on.
Solution 3: Update the Printer Drivers
Printer drivers are the software that communicate with the connected device, such as a computer. So, when you send a print, the printer will understand the command and print accordingly. When these drivers are out of date, printing issues happen. Update them by using the following steps.
Step 1: Download
- You should know that in 2017, HP acquired Samsung’s printer business. So, visit support.hp.com on an internet browser to get Samsung printer drivers.
- Then, click the Printer option on the screen, and type your Samsung printer model name.
- You’ll see a list of available drivers on the screen. Click the option for basic drivers.
- Next, click the blue Download button and let the drivers download.
The driver file will be saved under the Downloads folder on the computer.
Step 2: Install
- Locate the driver’s file on your desktop under the Downloads folder.
- Then, double-click the folder and select Yes to allow the computer to run it.
- Now, an installation window will appear on the computer.
- Let the driver’s file install on your computer. Try printing a document with the printer.
Solution 4: Correct the Printer Settings
It’s possible that the printer settings on your computer are incorrect. Here’s how to ensure that your printer settings are correct.
- Click the Start icon on the computer’s screen and search for Settings.
- Open the Settings option and select Devices.
- Select Printers & Scanners, and right-click on your Samsung printer.
- Click the Manage option, and select the Set as default printer option.
- Then, again, right-click on the printer and select “See what’s printing.”
- A new window will open. Click the “Printer” option at the top and click the “Use Printer Offline” option.
- If this option is checked, uncheck it.
By doing this, you’ll correct the necessary printer settings. If the printer was showing an offline error, it will also be resolved. Finally, your printer is ready to print.
